America depends on the U.S. Department of the Interior every day

But Interior is under threat

The Department of the Interior serves the Nation's need in countless ways, from managing resources to providing information about our resources to fulfilling our Trust obligations to Native Americans. (Infographic from the Department's Strategic Plan, 2022-2026.)

Millions of acres of public land, for recreation, hunting, and more...

Constitutional obligations to Tribes, from lands in trust to education...

Providing Western water, hydroelectric power, and safe dams...

Energy, on-shore and off-shore, renewable and fossil...plus minerals...

Endangered species and other wildlife...

...and so much more, all provided by the U.S. Department of the Interior.

But like so many American institutions, Interior is under threat.

Next Interior stands for a strong U.S. Department of the Interior that is able to realize its full potential in serving the Nation.

  • This means elevating what Interior does for Americans every day, so we don’t take it for granted. When things are taken for granted, they can disappear right before our eyes.
  • It means equipping you, your friends and relatives—everyone who cares about what Interior does for us—can take action to advocate for Interior.
  • It means engaging decision-makers to insist they adamantly support and provide the resources for Interior to follow through on our Nation's commitments. And engaging them to shape the next chapter of Interior's work!
  • It means supporting the people who make Interior what it is today, and who will make it what it is tomorrow. Investing in the culture of public service that runs in their veins, nurturing a culture of learning for how to improve the next Interior.
